The Briery Retreat & Conference Centre is a residential retreat house offering a wide programme of retreats throughout the year to a range of guests.

The Cook will be responsible to and report to our Head Cook as well as the Briery Director and will work as part of a team.  As well as cooking and preparing meals on some occasions they will help serve, wash up, clear and clean the kitchen and other duties as specified by our Head Cook.  Numbers for catering vary from day-to-day from individuals or small groups of 3 or 4 to groups of up to 50.  We cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free and other special diets.

The Cook must ensure the kitchen meets governmental health standards and ensure all food safety guidelines and hygiene standards are met and maintained.  The Briery has always maintained and been awarded the highest level in hygiene status.

The post is 15 hours per week over 3 or 4 shifts, sometimes day or early evening.  Holiday cover for other members of the team is required.  Weekend work is frequently required as well as some Bank Holidays.  Christmas and Easter are holiday periods.  Notice of working hours is issued in advance.
